Learn & Experience Coffee History in Zurich

Once, the enjoyment of the "black water" was only possible illegally, as it was forbidden and prohibited. Travelers to the Orient brought coffee to Europe in the 17th century. However, in Zurich, the drink was still known for a long time only from word of mouth. As its popularity grew, coffee was banned by the Zurich council, claiming it disturbed the mind. From the 20th century onward, a lively and diverse coffeehouse culture with big-city flair has developed in the Limmat city. Urs Schindler will show participants during a cozy city walk the historic coffee spots where enthusiasts of cultivated caffeine intake like to linger. The three-hour tour provides an extensive insight into the world of coffee -- from processing and trade to the importance of coffee today. Urs Schindler will guide participants into various coffee houses and introduce them to the enjoyment of coffee. Coffee and snacks are included in the price.
