Question 1

How warm is it in the tunnel and how should our guests dress?

Accepted Answer

Our heated event rooms, including the event cavern and our seminar rooms, allow you and your guests to dress appropriately for your celebration. If you have activities planned outside these rooms within the tunnel, we recommend sturdy footwear and a jacket, as it's typically around 15 degrees there, the terrain is occasionally uneven, and the floor is not as clean as in our facilities.

Question 2

In which languages are team events offered?

Accepted Answer

Basically in German; depending on group size and availability, also in English.

Question 3

Do guests experience claustrophobia in the VersuchsStollen Hagerbach?

Accepted Answer

Indeed, this is extremely rare. Our event cavern is only 70 metres from the tunnel entrance, and most of our tunnel rooms are spacious enough that even a lorry could pass through. In fact, our facilities are often more spacious than your local supermarket. A helpful reference point: if your guests can drive through a motorway tunnel without problems, they'll be in good hands with us!

Question 4

Is technical equipment available to meet our requirements?

Accepted Answer

Event cavern for events up to 200 people: Since spring 2022, we've been working with Winkler Livecom for technical equipment. In addition to decorative technical elements such as wall projections and coloured spotlights, we now also have excellent sound and lighting technology that's very easy to operate. Microphones, projector and screen, amplifier and speakers, as well as stage technology - everything is available in the event cavern. Want to dance? The event cavern has disco lighting that automatically adapts to the music. Additionally, there's a disco ball and fog machine - all easily controlled from a tablet. Do you have guests who can't travel from abroad? With our live-streaming technology, we can even cover such requirements! Glück-auf cavern for events over 200 people: The "Glück-auf" cavern is like a blank canvas. The framework is good. Stage elements are on-site. Suspension points for event truss and cabling for the control room are pre-installed by Winkler Livecom. All other technical equipment is brought to the venue by our technical partner following customer consultation, installed on-site during the event, operated during the event, and professionally dismantled afterwards.

Question 5

How late can we celebrate at the VersuchsStollen Hagerbach?

Accepted Answer

One of the great advantages of celebrating at our event venue in the mountain is the ability to party late into the night without consideration for other guests or neighbours. Events in the tunnel are possible until 4 a.m., with a surcharge of CHF 220 per commenced hour from midnight onwards.

Question 6

What are the payment terms?

Accepted Answer

Basically by invoice - credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Diner) or cash is also possible. For events with turnover exceeding CHF 5,000, a 50% advance payment may be required.

Question 7

Are there exclusive agreements with service providers?

Accepted Answer

No. We have "preferred partners" such as Winkler Livecom for technical equipment and dine&shine for catering that shouldn't run through our in-house kitchen - but you're not bound to them.

Question 8

Are there parking facilities?

Accepted Answer

Yes, free parking spaces are available right in front of the tunnel. For large events, additional spaces can be rented from the farmer.

Question 9

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Accepted Answer

Yes, almost the entire tunnel is wheelchair accessible and a separate toilet is also available.

Question 10

Is it possible to use the venue exclusively?

Accepted Answer

Weddings are always exclusive with us. For other events, we're happy to negotiate. However, our facility is primarily a research infrastructure and its operations must be guaranteed.

Question 11

What other services does the VersuchsStollen Hagerbach offer?

Accepted Answer

We have a broad range of services in gastronomy and events. Almost anything is possible, from wedding celebrations to group experiences through to seminars and concerts. However, the VersuchsStollen Hagerbach offers much more than that - building materials testing laboratory, research infrastructure, 1:1 experiments for tunnel construction, and more.

Question 12

What other services do you offer?

Accepted Answer

We have a broad range of services in gastronomy and events. Almost anything is possible, from wedding celebrations to group experiences through to seminars and concerts. However, the VersuchsStollen Hagerbach offers much more than that - building materials testing laboratory, research infrastructure, 1:1 experiments for tunnel construction, and more.

Question 13

Do you offer accommodation for guests?

Accepted Answer

We don't have rooms ourselves. However, there are several hotels in the surrounding area in Sargans, Walenstadt, Unterzerzen, Flumserberg, Bad Ragaz, or Maienfeld. We're happy to help you with recommendations.

Question 14

Do you have your own catering?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we have an in-house kitchen in the mountain at the Hagerbach restaurant. However, we're also open to events with external caterers, as long as they're professionally established.

Question 15

How do we entertain children during the wedding celebration?

Accepted Answer

For celebrations in our event cavern, the adjoining "Alphüttli" can be used as a children's room. The children have their own space whilst still being part of the celebration. Painting, watching Netflix, or playing with our large Hubelino marble run - the children won't get bored. Meals can be taken in the children's group in the Alphüttli or together with parents in the event cavern. High chairs for up to 5 small children are already provided.

If the youngest become too tired to celebrate, the adjoining Alpenqueren seminar room can be used as a temporary "sleeping area", allowing parents to continue celebrating longer.

Question 16

Are there special supporting programmes to entertain our guests?

Accepted Answer

An aperitif in the rustic tunnel marks the start of a unique evening. A blasting demonstration is perfect for ending the aperitif inside the tunnel and continuing the celebration. Team-building challenges, wine tastings, combined offers with service providers in the Heidiland region, and much more.

Question 17

How much time is needed between courses at dinner?

Accepted Answer

When planning events, it's important to find a balanced time schedule to ensure all guests have a pleasant experience. There should be sufficient time for guests to converse without anyone going hungry or becoming bored. At the same time, the schedule should be designed so that service staff are not rushed and dishes can be served at the highest quality. To achieve this, there are a few basic principles. - From entering the hall to the first course, allow at least 30 minutes. This gives guests 15 minutes to find their seats and chat on the way. It also allows service staff 15 minutes for beverage service. - Between courses, allow at least 45 minutes; for the main course, at least 1 hour. This allows sufficient time to serve the dish, eat it, clear the table settings, and refill drinks for the next course. - We recommend scheduling longer speeches or programme blocks after the main course. These often run longer than planned, and a time shift for the subsequent dessert is easier to manage than for the main course, where meat must be cooked to perfection. So if the main course is served at 20:30, the block with games or speeches should start at 21:30 or 21:45. - For a truly successful event at our event venue, we recommend starting dancing or bar service only after dessert. Starting dancing earlier can result in dessert being neglected and guests who don't wish to dance feeling left out.
