About us
How does a wine with character come into being? On a walk through the museum and the variety garden, you will learn more about the work of the vintner and the significance of wine at Zurich Lake.
During a subsequent tasting, we continue the story of wine-growing at Zurich Lake together based on the wines you have chosen. You decide how many wines your group would like to taste.
We usually begin with our rarity, our historic Räuschling. Experience how wine tasted at Zurich Lake 100 years ago - you will not forget this sensually sour experience. The present-day Zurich Lake wines that follow will soothe and delight your palate again.
Tastings - Aperitif
During a guided wine tasting or aperitif, we continue the story of wine-growing at Zurich Lake based on the wines you have chosen.
You decide how far your tasting journey around Zurich Lake should go. Perhaps you will concentrate on one wine (aperitif) or you will compare two to three wines (small tasting) or four to six wines (large tasting) with one another. With the large tasting, a portion of bread per person is included in the price.
Wine
You have a choice of 36 different wines from 18 vintners around Zurich Lake. You select the wine on site and our guides will be happy to advise you. Perhaps you would like to take a wine journey through three centuries - starting with a Räuschling, the autochthonous Zurich Lake grape variety, followed by a wine from the 20th century, such as a Müller-Thurgau, to finally arrive in the 21st century again with a fungus-resistant grape variety.
Cheese Aperitif Platters
We source our aperitif cheese platters from 'Preisig Käse & Wein' in Richterswil. The lovingly compiled platters with various, savoury cheese specialities, all neatly labelled, garnished with meat, olives and fruits are justly well known far beyond Richterswil. On request, the platters are also available without meat and always include fresh bread.
For vegetarians, there is the vegetable dip platter with Preisig house sauce or with hummus as a vegan option.
A visit to the Au peninsula is an experience for all the senses.

Visitors consistently praise the engaging guided tours that bring the rich history of Lake Zurich's winemaking to life through knowledgeable guides who share fascinating local stories. The museum's variety garden with 250 grape varieties offers hands-on learning experiences, while the wine tastings feature authentic, well-explained selections without pretentious jargon. Groups particularly appreciate the comprehensive experience that combines educational content with generous food pairings.
