About us
Terroir cuisine & events in a former compass factory
Located in the heart of Biel, the Ecluse sits in a former compass factory, surrounded by nature and directly on the Schüss river. The historic building was converted into a restaurant in 2002 and gently renovated in early 2021.
The homemade terroir cuisine follows the seasons and the cycles of nature. The restaurant with open kitchen offers space for up to 80 people with banquet seating. Corporate dinners, family celebrations, smaller weddings, tastings and private dinners can be individually tailored.
The event and garden terrace is located beneath large plane trees in Elfenau Park. An outdoor kitchen, fire ring, lounge and a covered veranda characterise the outdoor area. The hall on the first floor complements the offering for workshops, training courses, cooking classes and celebrations. It offers up to 60 seats for banquets and up to 90 people standing.
Room choice, seating arrangements and cuisine are coordinated for each event.

Nous avons passé un excellent moment à L’Écluse ! Tout était super : nous avons très bien mangé, les plats étaient délicieux et le cadre est vraiment agréable, avec une chouette ambiance. Le service était également au top, très sympathique et attentionné. Une très belle adresse à Bienne que nous recommandons volontiers. Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir ! 😊
