(37)Mitō in Zurich's District 4 has quickly earned a reputation as one of the city's most exciting bouldering spots. Climbers keep coming back for the creative, technically demanding route setting inspired by Japanese B-Pump style — a genuine standout in Zurich's gym scene. Beyond the walls, the café wins hearts with specialty coffee, pinsas and Japanese bites. The welcoming staff and relaxed atmosphere make it equally popular as a co-working spot. A unique place where climbing, good food and community naturally come together.
the soap in the bathrooms smells amazing
I have been 3 times now and always had a great time! Just got the 11 pass. Why do I come? For the setting. Arguably the most important aspect of any gym, next to having clean holds and good friction which Mito also provides. A higher proportion of the sets compared to other gyms in Zurich are coordination or balance oriented. Most outdoor climbers often do not prefer that, including myself. However I slowly changed my stance on that. Pure power and strength boulders are also there and you can train it on the provided boards. However the boulder susually contain a technical element which I really enjoy. The coordination and balance boulders are so well set that climbing them is really engaging and challenging. Unlike power or strength boulders which often if you can't do it, you can't do it until you get stronger over weeks and months, coordination boulders might seem impossible at first but in the end, once dialed, are actually, doable. So the process of working them and micro adjusting your beta is a great element which makes you feel like you are learning something. The boulders are set homogenous, not just with one hard crux and the rest easy peasy and cruisy. If you achieved the moves of the first crux there usually is another one waiting for you. Incremental gains feel good. For that reason, the fact that the gym is small is not that big of a deal since the boulders take time to send. Long story short, I had a great time and will come again. Keep up the quality :)
One of the best bouldering gyms I’ve ever tried. I absolutely recommend stopping by for a session, sending some problems, and grabbing a coffee afterward.
I love this Boulderhalle, the workers are super chill and btw there is a gym too, I have been going there over a month but only discovered it a few days ago🤣😅 better late than never 😝 try it out! It’s worth it, oh and if you have a Abo there you can actually see the walls setup on their website, it’s fricking coooool

No. Most teams are at a wall for the first time. We start with an introduction, then our trainers will guide you through the entire session.
Yes. Bouldering takes place at jumping height over soft mats, without rope and without harness. Each person climbs at their own level -- there are suitable routes for every level, and nobody has to climb high if they don't want to.
For food, we work with San San, a Japanese kitchen from Zurich. Depending on the format, there is an aperitif, lunch or dinner: onigiri, bowls, mochi and other Japanese snacks, plus specialty coffee -- on request also ramen, udon or gyozas. One drink per person is always included, beyond that there is a drinks package or a bar on account.
