Basel Christmas, Switzerland's largest Christmas market

The Basel Christmas market on Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz is among the most beautiful and largest in Switzerland. Around 150 traders and craftspeople present their offerings in small, rustic wooden chalets in the festively decorated Basel Old Town. The market runs from 26 November to 23 December 2026 and is open daily from 11:00 to 20:30. On 23 December, the market on Barfüsserplatz closes at 20:00 and on Münsterplatz at 18:00.
