Café des Arcades
About us
Small celebrations and meetings in the historic Fribourg district
Our Café des Arcades combines a café, bar and restaurant in the immediate vicinity of the cathedral. For more than 160 years, the establishment has been part of the district's life. People from the neighbourhood, cultural professionals, students and visitors to the city meet here. This mix creates the convivial atmosphere in which you can gather for a meal or an aperitif. Our terrace offers you a view of the cathedral.
Culinarily, you can choose from our menu featuring fougasse burgers, cocottes, meat dishes and desserts. We also offer seasonal dishes and regional ingredients such as alpine cheese and beef from the surrounding area. For a further insight into our culinary world, Le Stöckli stands next to the café: our small delicatessen with table d'hôte dedicated to seasonal and local products. For your planning, we distinguish between a regular restaurant visit and a reserved event in Le Bletz.

Reviews
Stopped for a coffee when everywhere else in Fribourg appeared to be closed on a Monday. Friendly service and nice atmosphere. Very clean toilets upstairs.
A wonderful experience with exceptionally friendly and attentive service! We arrived a little late for lunch, just before the restaurant’s afternoon break, but the staff kindly checked with the kitchen and made sure we could still enjoy our meal without feeling rushed at all. The staff were not only very friendly but also incredibly attentive and thoughtful throughout the whole experience. Unfortunately, my original order was no longer available, but they handled the situation with great kindness and even offered our drinks on the house as a gesture of goodwill. We truly appreciated their attention to detail and genuine hospitality! The restaurant offers a lovely selection of seasonal dishes as well as traditional Fribourg specialties, making it a wonderful place to discover the local cuisine. We had a fantastic experience and felt very well taken care of. A big thank-you to the entire team for making us feel so welcome. Highly recommended — we would happily come back again!
