For anyone who wants to see in the New Year at a beautifully laid table: these galas and dinner shows have already published their 2026 programme.

01Lucerne

New Year's Eve Gala at Hotel Schweizerhof Lucerne

A Lucerne classic: the evening starts at 6 pm with a champagne reception, followed at 7 pm by a six-course gala dinner in the historic Zeugheersaal. The Schweizerhof Festival Band plays live and the celebration goes on until 2 am. The menu is available with meat, fish or as a vegetarian option.

Price: CHF 348 per person at individual tables (category 1), CHF 298 at large shared tables (category 2), including aperitif, dinner, mineral water and entertainment. Children under 12 pay CHF 100 without the set menu and order à la carte.

Good to know: On New Year's Day, Lucerne traditionally holds its Neujahrszauber, a fireworks display over the lake basin. Staying at the hotel lets you enjoy both.

02Lucerne · Lake Lucerne

Gala cruise on Lake Lucerne

Sail into the New Year: on 31 December 2026, the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company sets off with two motor vessels, the MS Waldstätter and the MS Europa. Boarding starts at 6.45 pm, departure from Lucerne is at 7.30 pm. On the menu: five courses with beetroot burrata, champagne carrot soup, Central Swiss beef entrecôte and chocolate fondant, also available as a vegetarian menu. The SWISS MADE pocket orchestra plays live on both ships.

You will be out on the lake at midnight. The ships return to Lucerne at 12.25 am, and the party on board continues until 1.30 am.

Price: CHF 207 for adults, CHF 110 for children up to 15. The GA travelcard and Half Fare Travelcard are not valid.

03Basel

Palazzo Colombino Basel

On the Rosentalanlage, Palazzo Colombino combines a four-course menu with an international variety show: between courses, acrobats and comedians perform in the heated, historic mirror tent. On New Year's Eve the show starts at 7.30 pm, half an hour later than on other evenings.

Tip: Companies can book exclusive tables or the entire tent if you are celebrating with your team.

04Kloten

Winter Circus SALTO - unique event venue

Until 31 December 2026, the SALTO winter circus presents its new show «Salto Kaleido» with international acrobatics, light and live entertainment. The season ends with a special New Year's Eve performance. The show lasts around two and a half hours including an interval and can be combined with an aperitif or a three-course dinner.

Tip: A good choice if children are celebrating with you.

05Lugano

New Year's Eve concert at LAC Lugano

In Ticino, New Year's Eve begins with classical music: on 31 December 2026, the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana plays at LAC Lugano from 6 to 8 pm. Conducted by Krzysztof Urbański, pianist Anna Vinnitskaya performs Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, alongside works by Lutosławski, Borodin and Mendelssohn.

Tip: That leaves plenty of time for dinner by Lake Lugano afterwards.

New Year's Eve parties and fireworks in the open air

The big public celebrations and fireworks are free and need no reservation. Organisers usually publish the exact 2026 timings in December.

06Zurich · Lakeside

Silvesterzauber Zurich

Switzerland's biggest New Year's Eve party takes place around Zurich's lake basin again in 2026, from Limmatquai via Bellevue and Quaibrücke to General-Guisan-Quai. More than 150,000 people celebrate here every year, and entry is free.

For orientation, this is how the evening ran in 2025: street food, bars and a children's zone from 2 pm, parties on several festival areas from 8 pm, church bells at 11.40 pm and, shortly after midnight, the fireworks launched from three ships on the lake.

Getting there: On New Year's Eve, S-Bahn trains, trams and buses in the ZVV network run until 4 am, on most lines every half hour. Private fireworks are banned on the festival grounds.

07Basel · Rhine

Basel: fireworks over the Rhine

Basel traditionally celebrates with a big fireworks display over the Rhine. The best spots are on both banks between the Mittlere Brücke and the Johanniterbrücke. The canton announces the 2026 programme in December. If you want to dine first, combine it with dinner in the old town or the variety show at Palazzo Colombino.

08Lucerne · Lakeside

Lucerne: Neujahrszauber on 1 January

Lucerne lights its big fireworks not on New Year's Eve but on the evening of New Year's Day: during the Neujahrszauber, the sky above the lake basin glows for around a quarter of an hour. It is backed by Lucerne hotels, the KKL and Lucerne Tourism.

Tip: The best viewing spots are the Seebrücke and the lakeside promenade.

09Interlaken

Interlaken: Switzerland's longest New Year's Eve

Interlaken promotes the longest New Year's Eve in Switzerland. For 2025/26 it lasted three days: gala dinners in the hotels on 31 December, an open-air concert with a big New Year fireworks display on 1 January, and on 2 January the Harderpotschete, a centuries-old custom with masked figures.

Note: The 2026/27 programme has not been published yet.

10Adelboden

Raclette Hut Engstligenalp

Raclette instead of a gala menu: the raclette hut on the Engstligenalp above Adelboden opens on 12 December 2026 and, alongside all-you-can-eat raclette, also hosts New Year's Eve events.

Tip: Groups of 20 or more can book the hut exclusively for the evening, an idea for friends and teams who want to start the New Year together.
