About us

Your stage for culture, exhibitions and receptions on the Rhône

For your concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions and receptions, we offer you two different event areas in the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices. Choose the Auditorium Théodore Turrettini for your stage programme or use our divisible multipurpose area comprising the Petite Aile and Foyer for your event.

In the auditorium, you have access to a spacious audience hall, a 600 m² stage and artist dressing rooms for more than 150 performers. The wooden hall was designed with a focus on lightweight construction and acoustics. The foyer with the Petite Aile comprises over 1,000 m² in total and accommodates up to 1,000 people. Its open volume provides space for your exhibition, your design and the reception of your audience.

With us, industrial history becomes part of your event: the former waterworks opened in 1886 and was reopened as an opera venue in 1997. Two preserved pumps in the Petite Aile are a reminder of its original purpose. The historic building runs along the course of the Rhône and combines large arched windows with a striking metal structure. The foyer and event hall are accessible for people with restricted mobility. For arrival by public transport, the Bel-Air and Stand stops are available; public car parks can be found in the surrounding area.

Fascinating conversion of the old hydraulic central pump station for the city of Geneva into an opera where for instance the Tempest composed by Frank Martin was performed on Shakespear's text.
